Mississippi Coastal Cleanup Kids' Page
(But you don't have to be a kid to enjoy it!)

Every good beach-goer knows that we shouldn't toss our trash anywhere but in the trash bin, but do you know why? Here's a poster that tells you how long it takes for the trash that gets thrown into our oceans or on our beaches to decompose. If your parents or someone you know owns a boat, print this out and post it in the cabin to remind you why you want to stash your trash instead of tossing it overboard.

Print out the pictures on the right. First, find the debris and color it as instructed. Then, count the trash and write the items on the data card. Click on the pictures to get an enlarged copy for printing.

Another great way for kids to get involved in helping the environment is through Earth Day, celebrated every April 22. See what all the celebrating is about in this Earth Day 2006 brochure!
