Mississippi Coastal Cleanup Results - 2008

The results from the 2008 Cleanup can be found on this page.

Top Ten Debris Types (2008)

2008 Top Ten

This chart shows the top ten types of debris that were collected from our shorelines and waterways during the 2008 Cleanup. In 2008, the "Top Ten" list made up 81% of all the debris found in Mississippi. This total is indicative of "baggable" debris only, and does not include the 95,000 pounds of debris that would not fit neatly into our trash bags, nor the 92 tires that were collected (amounting to a combined total of 1,380 pounds)! For a further breakdown of the 2008 Cleanup effort by people, pounds, and miles, take a look at the PPM worksheet (PDF, 18.51 B) that we are required to submit to the Ocean Conservancy each year.
