P.J. WatersIf you ever had a pond question, or are considering building a pond you will want to know about an upcoming workshop.  Thursday, July 21, the Alabama Cooperative Extension System will have an all-day workshop at the Five Rivers Delta Center in Spanish Fort, Alabama, covering a range of pond-related topics.

Speakers from the Army Corps of Engineers will be on hand to discuss the permitting processes involved with new pond construction, while the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) will cover pond construction. In addition to these topics, management considerations including stocking, harvesting, vegetation control, water quality and stream-side management will be addressed by extension specialists. The workshop will conclude with a panel discussion, which will allow for additional questions from attendees.

The registration fee for this workshop is $45 ($60 for married couples), includes your lunch and you must register in advance. You may contact the Baldwin County Extension office (251.937.7176) to register.

For additional questions or information, contact P.J. Waters, Auburn University Marine Extension and Research Center, 251-438-5690.
