Sea Grant legal programs hire Web developer

Barry BarnesBarry Barnes has joined the Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Legal Program and the National Sea Grant Law Center as a web developer. He will be in charge of the design and maintenance of the websites for the Law Center, the Legal Program and the Mississippi Law Research Institute at The University of Mississippi School of Law. He also will design print and electronic publications.

Barnes holds a master’s degree in Web design and development from the University of Denver and a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from The University of Southern Mississippi.

“My primary focus initially will be on developing distinct brands for the Law Center and Legal Program through the redesign of existing websites and publications,” Barnes said. “I also will be working to increase our online presence.”

He has worked as the webmaster at Tougaloo College in Jackson, Miss., and as a graphic designer for Primerica Printing in Atlanta.

“We are very excited to have Barry on board,” Stephanie Showalter Otts, director of the National Sea Grant Law Center and the Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Legal Program, said. “His technical skills and design aesthetic will help our programs to continue to serve the needs of our existing clientele and build our Web presence to reach new audiences.”

Barnes’ office is located at The University of Mississippi School of Law in Oxford, Miss. He can be reached at bdbarne1@olemiss.edu or 662-915-7697.
