A new Mississippi aquatic plants Web site, jcho.masgc.org, is an online field guide that offers photos, habitat information and other details about more than 100 species of aquatic plants. The site also includes information on plants that are notorious for their hard-to-identify characteristics, according to Jackson State University Assistant Professor Hyun Jung “J.” Cho, who created the site’s content.

The Web site is the result of numerous field surveys conducted in wetlands and aquatic habitats between 2007 and 2009. The surveys were supported by the Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium, the Center for University Scholars at Jackson State University, Dauphin Island Sea Lab and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Coastal Services Center in support of the Gulf of Mexico Alliance.
